Nelson Ellis

Born October 8, 1933. Nelson Ellis played football for three years at Valley Head and was the starting halfback on the team that had a 9-1 record, and advanced to the state playoffs in 1951. After serving two years in the Army, Nelson came home and enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he graduated in two short years with a B.S. in Education. At Fyffe Ellis also coached the basketball team to a 23-7 record. His track teams won two county championships. Fort Payne then called Ellis for another challenge. During his three-year tenure Coach Ellis’ record was 22-7-1
